Standing “O”

Before there was anything including space
God was wondering what to place
Into the area and what to share
and after all, who would be there.

Plants and animals return to dust.
To keep Him company He made us,
With looks, a soul, a memory and such,
Free will, imagination and sex
(Thank you very much)

On the prettiest item in the sky,
On this blue marble go you and I
To live and grow in relative bliss
in a quest for happiness.

Before us, Adam and Eve were sent
who shortly met with a serpent
and with their ego He did fool
so they broke the only rule.

To fix the damage they had done
God later sent His only son.
He changed the rules for all the rest
From now on we must invest.

On our plate are things to do
and have and eat and show up to
and God is near as one who’s struggling.
Will you help or stay home snuggling?

Mostly what we’re here to do
Is to love Him one and neighbors two.
Now here’s the part that’s exceptionally nice
For those who do; there’s a paradise.

Here’s how I plan to make that scene.
It’s to share with many human beings
that the way we live can let God know,
we’re giving Him a Standing O.
